The Night of Make and Break and Ms.Matchsticks

Ms.Matchsticks didn't always work in a content firm. She used to so much more, did so much more. She used wear her imaginary cape every day and roam the streets for news. Life was better than. Now, it congested in these four walls with people who basically need to go back to school.

It was the seventeenth of July and tonight Ms.matchsticks her her plans as usual. She carefully disconnected her phone on her way back home, got off the internet because tonight is going to be a very, very long night.

In either cases. It was the seventeenth of July.

Ms.Matchstick's got home and showered and grabbed that bottle of pending vodka form her liqueur cabinet. Some times she still wakes up with flashes of the seventeenth of July, 2013.

9:30 pm, 17th July, 2013

Ms.matchsticks was actually a jr. reporter with a the local press. Life was hectic but life was moving forward and that was more than enough for her. She was putting her degree to use after all. but, the last three days has been severely hectic. She was on the road through out, with hardly any sleep. And, to add to all of that, covering child murders is not fun. She had brought back all the evidence and had tons of work in arranging them before she hands them over to the post production team.

But, by the time she showered, she was done and out cold on the bed.
................................................................................

Ms. Matchsticks felt the phone vibrate sharp 5:45 am. She could barely lift her head, because even the dead to the world sleep couldn't help her feel less tired. And with one eye open she read the following;

' My son has passed away. Please pray for his departed soul '.

Ms. Matchsticks jumped up straight, suddenly all the tiredness turned in to knot in her tummy, making her face her worst fear. He is not there anymore.

She frantically and anxiously started to go to the dial pad of her phone and saw seventeen miss calls from him, all between one thirty am to three forty five am.

How could she not be awake? How could she pass out? How could she have ever missed those calls. She could have done so much more. And she slept. She slept like nobody's fucking business. how could she?

All of these thoughts being jammed through her nerves and with a shaky body she dressed and set out to his place. She could barely keep herself standing but she did show up.

She shockingly and most importantly in absolute denial walked in to his house and head straight to his room. The cops had blocked the entire area waiting for the forensic to arrive to help them take the body down form the fan.

Ms. Matchsticks saw. She saw his lifeless body hanging, and turning blue. She saw the eyes that used to adore her closed with no dreams at all. The same strong arms that kept her warm and safe form the world.

She won't hear that baritone voice that spells safety and love calling her name. Telling her to sit on his lap and tell her stories of life and joy. She saw her life hang form the fan with no soul left. His hands were cold as Siberia.

She just stared at him, until his mother pulled her away.

She saw them take his body down, dress it and bring it back. And as she quietly sat beside the love of her life, she knew her heart has changed forever. Her big beautiful heart has been shattered.

The man who was supposed to keep her safe from the world has given up. She saw the last seven years just slip away.

She realized that nothing can change what has happened. Her life had stopped.
