Ms.Matchsticks - Little Ranty, little dainty
"Have you seen the sky today?" He yelled from the kitchen. Ms.Matchsticks sheepishly pulled on the window curtain to see if she was missing anything.Nah! Nothing. It is still the same blue sky, the green trees, that man urinating near the end of the road.
He always cuts her off when she tries to explain to him about her head. But well, now that she is reaching the boiling pit, maybe she needs to remind him once more. So, Ms.Matchstick did. As usual, he went around it.
But, why! Why are women not taken seriously when they try to talk about what's inside them, in their head? Ms.Matchstick always wondered, won't anybody understand triggers anymore.
But, he had a cute butt. I suppose its worth letting him ruin her well being.
He yelled again, ' Hey, why don't you get it when I am serious and when I am joking? '. Ms.Matchsticks wanted to respond, because you are just so bad at it. But, she settled with... " I am sorry, its hard to understand a poker face'.
Every night after they burned down the room with their bodies and special places, she used to look at him and wonder, if he didn't have that cute butt, would she still want him? I suppose she would. There never has been any reason in love and chaos.
Ms.Matchsticks believed in fighting for the fairy tale, as imperfect as she was. As horrifically broken as she was. But, she fought. If only he had the brain power to see those things.
He yelled again.
She walked away.
Maybe sometimes, all you need is someone to just show up. Maybe that's why her heart breaks with him every day.
She smiled back at him as usual. Told him everything will be okay. Took him to his doctor's appointments, made sure he had warm arms to rest in every night.
If only he could have shown up and done the same.
All of these thoughts clouded her head when she felt that familiar hand on her arms.
Time to be a soldier again.
